This week has ended the exhibition of V&A collaborative project. Up to now, I am still too excited to describe this exhibition experience in words. In a word, it is a perfect exhibition. LOVE IDC! LOVE WES!
About this week's study
While I was busy with the V&A collaborative project, I also re-thought the content of the video on Unit 2.1. I think the theme of this video is more about the Anthropocene because I am interested in this topic after all. This weekend I re-watched The Wandering Earth on Netflix. A line from the film gave me a lot of inspiration: "At first, nobody cares about this disaster, just another wildfire, another drought, another species extinction, Another vanishing city. Until everyone is entwined with this emergence. "about the disaster movies I have seen many, most of the disaster movie is all about climate change, the content of the human world will lead to climate change that is beyond doubt, I put forward a hypothesis that if humans continue to destroy the earth, mankind will go extinct. I'd like to start with this assumption by mixing and cutting disaster movies, and over the next two weeks, I'll devote myself to researching Unit 2.1.
Reading
This week I read the book Arts of Living on a Planet: Ghosts and Monsters of the Anthropocene, which is a collection of many works by artists, scholars, and novelists, and about Anna Tsing, whom I found earlier in Caitlin's lecture on the Anthropocene. I think this book is an attempt to imagine the damage to the planet of human and nonhuman between different lifestyle or "art", at the same time I also think this is a collection of interdisciplinary, it contains the anthropology, ecology, science, art, literature and academic papers in the field of bioinformatics, bridge the gap between science and humanities, to how we live with other species on earth better provides a good original inspiration. The book is divided into two parts: one is "Monsters" and the other is "Ghosts". The book with a monster to express The body, or, as described in The book "bodies tumbled into bodies." And landscapes by ghosts, or said to be haunted by The history of The landscape, Through multiple time to create landscapes. Also, the tropes of monsters and shelter the dialectic intervention of man's nature, And break down these tropes through the study of the Anthropocene, This book made me rethink a lot of the knowledge about using Metaphors to describe the natural world. Although I have only read a few parts of the book, I shall see the last of the book.
