1.11.20 Data Data Data

Updated: Jan 10, 2021

After this week's tutorial with Wesley, Wesley gave me a lot of inspiration. He suggested that I try to interact with my audience in a data-driven way. For example, you can make a map, a map of the world with light pollution. When viewers touch a particular area, they can see real-time data on light pollution in that area. I agree with Wesley, and I also mentioned one point in the offline class with Filipe: my works have some playable. This is the biggest problem with my work, making the audience stop for a while and then leave. Although the audience may find this work very interesting, very funny. But they could not learn more about the seriousness of light pollution from this work or from something about light pollution.

I think in future research, I should make this work have more content. Add some data, as Wesley suggests. For example, through data from different regions, the audience can see that light pollution really affects people's lives. Maybe I can present the problem of light pollution in a data-esthetic way that makes the work playable and worth learning and thinking about.

In this week's research, I have consulted some maps of light pollution, which much help me. It can help me quickly establish a world map of light pollution. And some articles on light pollution data, and the causes of light pollution. This is very useful for me, and I will incorporate them into my work in an aesthetic way.

As for my project's progress this week, I quickly got a light pollution map based on the data through some data collection. In future work, I will improve this map and add more data or real-time data based on human body tracking. I will refine my project next week.
